Toot (Persian Marzipan Candy)

Persian Marzipan Candy also known as Toot is one of the popular Persian sweets for Norooz (Persian New Year). This no-bake candy is super tasty and easy to make with only 5 ingredients.
To prepare, combine the ground almonds, icing sugar, cardamom and rosewater until you have a soft dough. Shape a small amount of dough into mulberry and roll in white sugar. Insert a sliver of pistachio as a stem and serve. EASY!

Yield: Serves 6
- 1 2/3 cups unsalted slivered almonds, about 170 g
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 4-5 tablespoons white sugar
- 4 tablespoons rosewater
- slivered pistachios
Using a food processor, grind the almonds into a fine powder.
Combine the ground almonds, icing sugar, and cardamom in a mixing bowl.
Gradually add the rosewater and mix until you have a soft dough.

Spread the white sugar on a plate.
Take a small amount of dough, shape it like a mulberry, and roll in white sugar. Then insert a sliver of pistachio as a stem.

Repeat the process until you are done with the dough.
Store in air tight container.
