Yield: 30 cookies
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 ounces (113 g) cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- zest of 1 orange
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- powdered sugar for dusting
Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
Cream the butter and cream cheese together with an electric mixer, about 3 minutes. Add the sugar in and beat until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract in and mix until combined.
Add the dry mixture and orange zest into the wet and mix on low until just combined. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least an hour.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Using a medium (2-tablespoon) cookie scoop, portion out the dough. Roll into a ball and place 2-inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. The dough will be sticky so it is best to dampen your hands a bit.
Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are set and just turning golden.
Cool cookies on baking sheet for 3-4 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Once the cookies are cooled, dust them with a little bit of powdered sugar.
