Macaroni and Cheese

Simple Mac and Cheese recipe made with pasta, cheese and white sauce. I added sliced mushrooms to this creamy macaroni and cheese, but it is optional and you can make it without mushroom.

This dish is an easy comforting dinner idea and is also a simple holiday side dish that both adults and kids will love!

Macaroni and Cheese

Yield: Serves 5

Ingredients:
  • 220 g elbow pasta
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 cups Mushroom Sauce
  • salt & black pepper to taste
Instructions:

Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until tender, but still firm to bite (or follow the cooking instructions on the package). When pasta is ready, drain and set it aside.

Meanwhile prepare the Mushroom Sauce.

In a large bowl combine cooked pasta, mushroom sauce and 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Macaroni and Cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat an 8 x 11 inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Spread the pasta mixture into the baking dish and sprinkle remaining cheese all over the mixture.

Place on the middle rack of the oven and bake until bubbling around the edges and golden brown on top. Serve immediately.
