How to Use Saffron

Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world and usually sold in threads. Fortunately, a little bit of saffron goes a long way. Saffron threads should be ground or crushed before using a recipe. The best way to extract flavour from powdered saffron is to soak it in hot liquid. Note that the amount of saffron and water differs from recipe to recipe, so follow your recipe for the specifics.

Yield: Dissolved Saffron

I have been living in Mexico a few months and have been stocking up on their spices because they are so much less expensive than in the US. I came across a package of small bulb like balls (same size and shape as pimienton/all spice) and it\'s label is azafran/saffron. The outside shell is dark brown and the inside is yellow. How do I use these? Is it truly saffron?

Dear Arianna, I'm not sure about the spice you got but as I know saffron looks like thread or you can purchase saffron powder too. I've never seen saffron bulb. I let you know if I find out what are they.
